Old and New
Today’s card was inspired by a sketch over at Atlantic Hearts. I’m always inspired by these sketches. This time, I realized that the banners would be PERFECT for scraps of paper, so I pulled out my scraps of an OLD paper set, called Lollydoodle. I had to change the sketch a bit to make my stamps fit, but I mostly followed it. I hope you can play along too!
This Old and New Card mixes the brand new StoryBook Adventure stamp of the month with a retired paper set called Lollydoodle. This pattern paper is a few years old, and I still have colored paper to match it. I LOVE how well Close To My Heart products coordinate.
Alphabet Stamps create the focal point of this card. They provide so many options, and I love the fun images on these Storybook Alphabet stamps. They are cute colored, or on colored paper, or by themselves on white paper. These stamps are only available for the month of July and are ONLY $5 with a $50 order!
Princess Pointers: This card came together very quickly
Stamp before gluing paper down – I had to flip my white image over when I dropped the stamp on it!
Water color pencils added the perfect pop of color quickly.
Lagoon paper separates the white focal piece from the slightly busy background.
An easy way to dovetail (like I did for the ends of the banners) is to fold just the end loosely in half then cut at an angle. When you unfold the piece, you have (mostly) symmetrical ends.
I used the Shimmer trim to line up and hold all my little banners, then I just cut off the excess from the top of the shimmer trim and glued it down (the banners were covering the sticky side of the ribbon).
Since the shimmer trim with banners got a bit too heavy for regular adhesive, so I secured the ends with our Bonding Memories Glue Pen.
