Shades of Blue No Worries Christmas Card
Today’s card was inspired by a few different challenges. I followed the July Stella Says Sketch, and the color challenge at Catch the Bug. I’m also entering the Heart 2 Heart “No Worries” challenge. These critters are totally worry free, and I used the colors from the paper pack. I had to get creative since I decided to do all the July challenges and I don’t have the featured paper!
The sketch showed striped paper on the left side, and I don’t have any in the colors I wanted to use. My solution was to pull out the Cricut and cut a striped overlay, this one came from Artbooking.
Cricut Overlay Tip: When working with an image that could have many pieces, like this striped image, keep it as one piece. I left the left and top edges on my overlay, added glue to the back of each stripe, and then attached the overlay with the frames off the image I wanted to cover. Then, I just trimmed the edges. Since I can’t get anything straight or even, this worked MUCH better than eyeballing where each little stripe would go.
I used the Shin Han Markers to color the digi stamp. The reindeer’s body is Mahogany with Clay hooves and antlers. The little critter on his head is Golden Yellow with a Marigold nose and Turquoise scarf and eyelids. The reindeer’s candy cane and color are Turquoise and Marine Blue. I also added Tender Pink for the ears.
The Glacier background page is embossed with a retired snow flake embossing folder, but any subtle pattern would be cute!
Your Turn! I can’t wait to see what you create. I’ll see you around the challenges 🙂
